The Ford Ranger’s engine is a 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit that produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Things are made even more amazing by the lighter Ranger XL, which astounds users with its speed and agility when we put it through its paces at the track. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard on all Ranger vehicles and offers seamless and rapid shifts. Models with rear-wheel drive have an 8.4-inch ground clearance, while those with four-wheel drive have an 8.9-inch clearance. The Ranger can be ordered with a Terrain Management System, which modifies factors like transmission gearing and engine reactivity to enhance the truck’s performance on various types of terrain.
