It\u2019s a well-known fact that the bigger the vehicle, the more power and fuel it takes to move it. Much lighter than steel, the aluminum alloy panels on the body of the 2017 Ford Super Duty<\/a> significantly reduce the truck\u2019s overall weight. With less weight in the body, the Super Duty is able to run on less fuel, so it can focus its power on towing heavy trailers or hauling heavy loads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new aluminum paneling has reduced the Super Duty\u2019s weight by up to 350lbs. For example, the base Regular Cab option now features a curb weight of 5,683lbs.<\/p>\n\n\n

New Power and Capability<\/h3>\n

Of course, Ford could\u2019ve gone the route to make the truck even lighter than that, however at that point you\u2019d end up sacrificing its much-needed power and capability. That is what the heavy-duty truck is for, after all.<\/p>\n

Instead, the brand chose to meet the two specs in the middle to find the sweet spot between power and efficiency. To do so, Ford added strength to the truck\u2019s frame and suspension for increased work capacity and durability.<\/p>\n
