Trail Control Now Available on the Ford Raptor!

Assistance technology in vehicles has come leaps and bounds in recent years, and one of the coolest new features for an off-roading aficionado is Ford Trail Control. This system acts like cruise control for off-roading, and will autonomously maintain a consistent speed without the driver needing to keep a foot on the gas pedal. But what Ford vehicles have Trail Control? The 2019 F-150 Raptor is the second model to be available with this practical off-roading feature.
What Ford vehicles have Trail Control?
The 2019 Ford Raptor supreme off-roading and sand-racing truck will offer the Trail Control system when it becomes available later this year. It joins the 2019 Ford Ranger (early 2019 release date) which will offer the Trail Control system as part of its overall Terrain Management System. At this time these are the only two models that offer Trail Control, but we think that it may be possible for select SUVs and crossovers (maybe even the Bronco?) to offer this feature in the future.
How does Ford Trail Control work?
Trail Control operates mostly like traditional cruise control, except that it is designed for extremely slow speeds between 1 and 20 mph. Drivers can set a speed and the truck will maintain that speed consistently. The one exception is if the Raptor runs into deep sand or other terrain where it loses traction. In that situation, the Trail Control system will make a recommendation about an ideal speed for escaping the obstacle, and may even offer additional advice.
The 2019 Ford Raptor is the only vehicle that offers this feature in all of its 4×4 driving modes.
