What is Ford F-150 EcoBoost®?

A Potent Mix of Power and Efficiency

If you’ve been considering the 2019 Ford F-150, you may have noticed that Ford offers six different engine options across its trim levels. Three of these engines feature the “EcoBoost®” name. But what exactly does EcoBoost® mean? Please keep reading this blog by Kimber Creek Ford in Pine River, MN, to find out.

What is EcoBoost®?

EcoBoost® is a series of turbocharged, direct-injection gasoline engines produced by Ford since 2009. These engines are designed to provide power and torque similar to larger-displacement, naturally aspirated engines while delivering improved fuel efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions. EcoBoost® engines can offer about 30% better fuel efficiency and 15% lower greenhouse gas emissions, creating a strong balance of performance and efficiency. Ford developed this approach as a more cost-effective and versatile alternative to further expanding hybrid and diesel engine technologies.
