Ford Safe & Smart Package Features
Auto High-Beam Headlamps
An option in luxury cars for more than a decade, Auto High-Beam Headlamps make driving in darkness that much safer. As the name suggests, these headlamps automatically dim and brighten depending on the presence of other vehicles and available light on the road. No longer do you have to keep your finger on the High-Beam button, clicking it on and off throughout a long nighttime drive in the country.
They’ll also help you follow the law- here in Minnesota, you legally must dim your headlights before oncoming traffic is within 1,000 feet and before coming up behind traffic within 200 feet.
Lane-Keeping System
The lane-keeping system can alert you to unintentional lane drifting and even intervene to keep your vehicle in the correct lane. Using a camera to monitor road markings, the system will warn you and/or take the initiative to adjust the steering system if it detects unintentional drifting. This will save you during those moments of carelessness or distraction that we all have.
Though many doubt self-driving vehicle innovations, humans are far more imperfect than we usually admit. Computers are simply more accurate and reliable in detecting issues and have lower rates of malfunction than our own brains. So stop doubting, and embrace the robotic future!
Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Collision Warning
Adaptive Cruise control allows the driver to set the speed and distance they want to maintain from the vehicle in front of them. This takes cruise control to the next level of convenience, no longer requiring constant engagement and disengagement. Forward Collision Warning detects the threat of a collision and not only alerts you but can also begin braking if set to do so.
This system works great for stop-and-go situations, such as rush-hour traffic with lots of speeding up and slowing down. Previously, cruise control was impractical in these situations, but no longer.
* Driver Assist Features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment, and need to control the vehicle.
