Drivers looking for an attractive full-size, light duty truck can find a lot of options available on the market. In this 2018 Ford F-150 vs 2018 Toyota Tundra comparison, we are going to look at our eternal Ford favorite when pitted against its Toyota rival. While the 2018 Tundra is also a truck with many good features, we like the versatile and the immediate value you get with the Ford model.

Both of these trucks are available with choices in engine and body style, yest time and again the Ford offers drivers more options. The 2018 F-150 is available in Regular Cab, SuperCab and Crew Cab body styles, while the 2018 Toyota Tundra is available only in Double Cab and CrewMax body styles. This limited body style selection also makes the 2018 Tundra more expensive right out of the gate. This truck also offers only two V-8 engines (which costs it when it comes to base fuel economy).

Engine Options on the 2018 Ford F-150

The base 2018 Ford F-150 engine is a 3.3-liter V-6 that offers 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. While this is a lower engine output than comes with the base 4.6-liter V-8 on the 2018 Toyota Tundra (rated for 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque), this engine is also less expensive and offers significantly better mileage numbers, which makes it more practical for daily driving and light towing. While the 2018 Toyota Tundra offers a single additional engine option (a 5.7-liter V-8 rated for 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque), the 2018 Ford F-150 offers five additional engine options for discerning drivers, including an all-new diesel 3.0-liter Power Stroke Turbo Diesel that has just become available.

However, the 2018 Ford F-150 is not just about engine options. This truck is also available with premium luxury trims like the Platinum and Limited, and attractive available features like Adaptive Cruise Control,  the responsive SYNC 3 infotainment system, Pro-Trailer Backup Assist, Pedestrian Detection and so much more.
